Mesmerizing Storm Cloud Looms Over Pensacola Beach

A mesmerizing shelf cloud was spotted by beachgoers over Pensacola Beach in Florida, on June 9, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of possible hail, waterspouts, and high winds in the area.

A shelf cloud can give the appearance of rotation on a horizontal axis and is “usually associated with a solid line of storms” with wind followed by rain, according to the NWS.
