Meru Utama (VGI Airports) signs contract as ERL’s media concessionaire

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — Meru Utama Sdn Bhd (VGI Airports) today signed a contract with Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), to appoint the former as ERL’s media concessionaire.

As ERL’s media concessionaire, Meru Utama will be tasked with managing and operating media assets.

The signing ceremony which took place at the ERL Transit platform in KL Sentral station was attended by ERL chief executive officer Noormah Mohd Noor and Meru Utama director Aznur Azizuddin.

“With air travel steadily picking up, we are seeing a positive growth in our passenger ridership which we expect to recover over 80 per cent of our pre-pandemic level by end of the year.

“This partnership will provide more exposure of foreign and local travellers to Meru Utama’s clients who see tremendous value in this market.

“We are confident that Meru Utama, with their vast experience and commitment to quality, can utilise our media assets optimally to generate maximum value for all parties,” said Noormah.

Through the partnership, both companies are optimistic about the potential economic returns, in view of the positive trajectory of air travel recovery.

Meru Utama is a pioneer in the airport advertising industry and will mark its 39th year this month on August 21.

“Currently, we are managing the advertising mediums in KLIA Terminal 1, KLIA Terminal 2 and the Senai International Airport (Johor).

“Now, with this partnership between ERL and Meru Utama, we will be able to offer our clients wider exposure to reach the passengers through their journey to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre as well as Putrajaya up to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Additionally, due to the increasing demand in DOOH (Digital Out Of Home), we will be investing and installing new digital assets in the stations,” Meru Utama business unit director Herman Lim who was also present at the signing ceremony said.

Under the three-year contract, Meru Utama will manage and operate ERL’s advertising assets which include all stations as well as all KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit trains.

In addition, they will invest in and install new state-of-the-art digital assets at the stations.

Present also at the signing ceremony were Ancom Berhad executive chairman Datuk Siew Ka Wei, Ancom Berhad executive director Datuk Hasnul Hassan and Redberry Advertising chief executive officer Maaresh Starling.
