Meow Wolf Unveils Location of Permanent Los Angeles Exhibition

Meow Wolf has unveiled the location of its upcoming exhibition to be the Cinemark complex at Howard Hughes Los Angeles. Variety previously reported that the immersive art production company would choose a West Los Angeles movie theater as the home of its sixth permanent installation.

“We’re crafting our next surreal dream world in a movie theater in West Los Angeles, a nod to the cinematic soul of the city,” said Amanda Clay, chief development officer at Meow Wolf. “[Howard Hughes L.A.], nestled close to LAX, and just off the 405, is positioned at the convergence of abundant culture and opportunity. Meow Wolf Los Angeles will draw inspiration from its surroundings and translate them into something otherworldly, never-before-seen and yet familiar to Angelenos.”

“We’re excited that one of the world’s most innovative and immersive entertainment experiences is coming to [Howard Hughes L.A.],” said Tyler Mateen, founder and CEO of Cannon TTM. “Meow Wolf is a cultural institution that will further solidify HHLA as a go-to destination in West Los Angeles.”

Meow Wolf started as a DIY collective in Sante Fe, N.M., inviting local artists to build immersive exhibitions from repurposed garbage. After enlisting the help of George R. R. Martin for its first permanent location, Meow Wolf has gone national with its expansive installations, opening exhibits in Las Vegas, Denver and Dallas with Houston and Los Angeles next on the list.

More information about the L.A. exhibition’s theme and grand opening will roll out in the coming months. Meow Wolf has teased that the new installation “invites travelers of all ages to an unforgettable experience through living, breathing art.”
