Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly willing to take a 30 per cent pay cut to force through his exit from Manchester United.
The Portuguse superstar’s agent Jorge Mendes is desperately searching for a new club for his client, with suitors thin on the ground.
Reports have claimed he’s been offered to Chelsea and Bayern Munich, who have both snubbed the chance, while Ronaldo isn’t willing to take advantage of a very lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
He’s also been offered to Atletico Madrid, but despite reports of manager Diego Simeone being seduced by the idea of adding Ronaldo to his ranks, CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs now claims the La Liga side see the signing of Ronaldo as ‘problematic’ and they are ‘simply not in a financial position to move’.
Jorge Mendes is making it clear to clubs put off by his wages that Cristiano Ronaldo is willing to take a significant pay cut, potentially as high as 30%. Ronaldo remains interested in an Atleti move. But club continue to distance themselves, as previously reported.

He adds that Mendes also offered him to Barcelona before they completed the signing of Robert Lewandowski, while ‘there is no appetite’ from Real Madrid.
As he continues to search for a solution, Mendes has reportedly made it clear to potential buyers that Ronaldo is willing to take a signficant pay cut – as much as 30 per cent – to force through a move away from Old Trafford.
New United boss Erik ten Hag ‘remains hopeful of clear-the-air talks’ with Ronaldo, but Jacobs revealed a further reason for the 37-year-old wanting to leave this summer.
Reports have already pointed out Ronaldo’s desire to be playing Champions League football, but he also wants to ‘join a club where he feels the burden of output isn’t solely on him’.
Jacobs continues: ‘He wants support, which he believes is key to maintaining his peak. This is particularly important in a World Cup year with added games mid-season.’
Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season, with compatriot Bruno Fernandes the next most prolific with ten.
