SINGAPORE – Kyoto’s famous fire ramen, Menbaka Fire Ramen, is opening its first-ever overseas outlet at Cineleisure Orchard.

Menbaka Fire Ramen, the world’s first-ever fire ramen, gets the name from its over-the-top preparation methods. Chefs ignite Negi oil to the point of flames to create a tall fire before pouring it over their signature broth topped with green onions, resulting in a smoky rich broth that accompanies the noodles.

The Cineleisure outlet will be the brand’s only other outlet besides its main store in Kyoto.

Menbaka Fire Ramen was first opened in Kyoto in 1984 by ramen master Masamichi Miyazawa, who spent his youth learning the intricacies of ramen making in kitchens across Japan. He later introduced Menbaka's signature 'fire ramen' to the menu. The shop is now helmed by his son, Shin Miyazawa, who brings a youthful energy and fiery passion to the family business.

At the Singapore branch of Menbaka Fire Ramen, there will be familiar favourites such as the signature Shoyu Fire Ramen (S$17.90), which uses the same shoyu as the Kyoto store, specially imported from Hyogo’s 220 years old shoyu factory. The signature Shoyu Fire Ramen broth will also consist of chicken, mackerel and bonito brewed over several hours to achieve its unique taste. The Vegetarian Fire Ramen (S$16.90), promised to be as healthy as it is tasty, will have a cleaner taste with a more pronounced shoyu flavour.

Exclusive to the Singapore outlet is the decadent Tonkotsu Fire Ramen (S$18.90), made with a rich and creamy pork bone broth, and the Crispy Charcoal Karaage Salad (S$14.90), with its chicken chunks on a fresh bed on greens and drenched with a choice of tangy yuzu and creamy sesame dressing.

Menbaka Fire Ramen’s Singapore outpost will feature a state-of-the-art exhaust that ensures flames are promptly whisked away once the preparation is complete. Diners will also be asked to place their hands behind their back during the fire show, ensuring that they will not be in harm’s way.

In celebration of the opening of its first overseas outlet in Singapore, Menbaka will be offering a limited time 1-for-1 promotion for all fire ramen from 27-29 Nov.
