Memorial Seen at German Filling Station After Worker Killed in Face Mask Dispute

People have been leaving flowers, candles, and tributes to a worker at a filling station in German, after he was shot and killed in what police said was a dispute over a face mask.

Police in the west German state of Rhineland-Palatinate said on September 20 that a 49-year-old man had been arrested in Idar-Oberstein on suspicion of murdering the 20-year-old worker and student.

This footage, shot by Christian Schulz on September 18 and 19, shows the station cordoned off while an armed officer watches. Later, three people can be seen huddled around a vigil, which includes candles, floral arrangements and a photo of the victim with a message that reads, “We miss you Alex.” Credit: Christian Schulz via Storyful
