Megyn Kelly Attends 8-Year-Old Daughter's School Disco Party as Her 'Date' — See Their Costumes

Megyn Kelly got groovy on Tuesday evening.

The former Fox News anchor revealed on Twitter that her daughter Yardley, 8, had asked her to attend the school disco party — so of course, she obliged.

“Because when your daughter asks you to be her date for the school disco party, there is only one correct response,” Kelly tweeted alongside a photo of the mother-daughter pair posing hand-in-hand in their costumes.

Kelly wore shiny silver pants with flared bottoms, and Yardley wore a colorful metallic dress, a matching headband and white leather boots. Both accessorized with sparkly oversize sunglasses.

The party comes after Kelly, 48, celebrated Yardley’s April 14 birthday.

“Happy Birthday to my sweet Yardley, 8 years old today, and just as fun and full of fire as on Day One. Love this girl!!” she tweeted alongside a photo of her daughter holding a bunch of balloons while celebrating her big day.

Kelly also shares sons Thatcher, 5, and Edward, 9, with husband Doug Brunt. The family recently returned from a trip to the Bahamas, where they celebrated Easter, and Kelly told PEOPLE that they “had a great time” on the trip.

“Egg hunts on the beach, water slides with the kids and some time to celebrate our faith on Easter,” she said. “Our kids are growing up so fast — every minute we get with them is a gift. And so were the tequilas Doug and I enjoyed poolside!”

Kelly has been spending plenty of time with her family since she finalized her departure from NBC News in January. Her exit followed the cancellation of her Today show hour in October after the anchor sparked serious backlash for questioning whether wearing blackface as part of a Halloween costume is actually racist. Kelly apologized for her comments twice — first in an internal email to colleagues, and then on-air the next day.

The 9 a.m. hour has since been taken over by Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones.

A friend of Kelly’s told PEOPLE last year that the news anchor was “looking forward to her next chapter.”

“She’s expected to be back in action soon,” said the friend. “She will work again.”
