Meghan McCain on Harris invoking her father: ‘Democrats want to reinvent history’

Meghan McCain, the daughter of late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), pushed back against Vice President Harris’s mention of her father at a rally earlier this week, claiming Democrats are trying to “reinvent history.”

“Now, I know democrats want to reinvent history and turn my Dad into any illusion you guys need him to be depending on the political moment you need to bastardize his memory for…” Meghan McCain wrote in a post on social platform X.

“But please don’t make me start sharing what I remember him ACTUALLY saying about Kamala Harris….” she added.

In a separate post, McCain wrote, “And consider this my final warning shot, I will start spilling tea.”

Her rebuke follows Harris’s recent praise of her father’s vote against repealing the Affordable Care Act.

“That vote was the late great John McCain,” Harris said. “A great American, a war hero, John McCain.”

Meghan McCain, a former co-host of ABC’s “The View” and vocal critic of former President Trump, said last month that she would not support either party nominee in November.

She recently put pressure on Harris, pushing the Democratic candidate to address issues like immigration and inflation rather than leaning on personal attacks.

“No matter how much momentum and media love Vice President Harris is getting right now — I don’t know her excuses for our s— inflation and open borders, where literal terrorists are crossing,” she wrote in a post on X at the time.

In a another post, she added, “and some ephemeral answer about hope, change and JD Vance being weird is really not going to cut it.”

The Republican presidential ticket has also tried to invoke the late senator’s memory.

Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R), had mentioned McCain at a rally in Pheonix last month, claiming that he wouldn’t have supported Harris if he saw the conditions at the southern border.

“I do not believe for a second that if John McCain were alive today, and he sees what’s going on at the American southern border, that he would support Kamala Harris and all the destruction she’s wrought,” Vance said.

The remarks came just days after McCain’s son, Army 1st Lt. Jimmy McCain, revealed he will vote for Harris in November.
