Meghan Markle used her Valentine's Day outfit as a symbol of her affection for Prince Harry, wearing items that might look familiar to those who followed their early courtship.

The couple spent the holiday in Canada, stepping out on Wednesday for the start of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025's One Year to Go celebrations.

Meghan, 42, was spotted in the same wool-and-cashmere Burberry beanie she wore while she was dating Prince Harry, 39.

Wednesday's event also marked the first time the Duchess of Sussex has been seen wearing her engagement ring in public in recent months.

At the Invictus Games held in Germany last September, Meghan was without the three-stone engagement ring that Prince Harry used to propose. PEOPLE reported at the time that the ring was being serviced because a setting came loose.

Prince Harry designed the ring with the help of Cleave & Company (the late Queen Elizabeth's regular jeweler). The custom piece features a large cushion-cut center diamond sourced from Botswana, where Meghan and Harry spent time together early on in their relationship, as well as two side stones from the jewelry collection of Harry's late mother Princess Diana.

"It's beautiful, and he designed it, it's incredible," Meghan said during the couple's engagement interview in November 2017.

Since getting engaged, Meghan has given the ring a few upgrades. In 2019, she replaced the ring's original gold band with a thin micro-pavé band.

Even before their romantic Valentine's Day dinner, Prince Harry and Meghan were clearly feeling the love on the romantic holiday. The pair, who are known for their public displays of affection, held hands as they stepped out on a snowy mountain to meet ski athletes and their guides, and they put their arms around each other during the outing.

In another sweet moment, Meghan borrowed a phone to take a photo of her husband sitting in an adaptive ski before he took a turn on the slopes, as seen in a video posted on X by Rebecca Lewis of Hello! magazine. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly wanted to "show the kids," referring to their 4-year-old son, Prince Archie, and 2-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet.

The Duke of Sussex founded the international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans in 2014.

Following cycles in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017) and Sydney (2018), the Hague (when COVID-19 pushed the event back to 2022) and Düsseldorf (2023), the upcoming cycle in Canada will be the first time the sports tournament has returned to a previous host country.

The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will be the first winter edition of the competition through the introduction of winter sports. Next February, athletes can go for the gold in alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, Nordic skiing, skeleton and wheelchair curling for the first time in addition to the core Invictus sports of indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.
