It’s official: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer senior working members of the royal family. Which means their Instagram account is no longer active, they will no longer do official royal engagements, and they’re financially independent.

More to the point, Meghan and Harry can finally start a new chapter in their lives, which they’re super pumped about. According to a source who spoke with Vanity Fair’s royal reporter Katie Nicholl, “They are genuinely excited about the next chapter. It hasn’t been an easy time for them but they are looking forward to starting a new chapter and being the couple they want to be. They really want to make a difference on a global level and they are very ambitious about what they want to achieve.”

While the couple does have new projects up their sleeves, the source says they won’t be announcing them yet considering we’re in the middle of a global health crisis (understandable).

“Given what is happening in the world, it isn’t the right time to be making any major announcements or launching an organization,” the source said. “These things will happen further down the line, but their idea for the organization is already well established and quite far down the line.”

As for returning to England, Meghan and Harry have put their plans to visit on hold, but a source says they do plan to return “at some point later this year to visit their charities and of course see their friends and family.”
