Harry and Meghan have launched the site for their new organisation Archewell, a 'impact-driven non-profit' foundation.
With the launch of the site they released a joint statement: a message of hope for the new year they called 'A letter to 2021'.
The letter came with childhood pictures of Harry with Diana and Meghan with her mother Doria Ragland.
The letter, which is displayed over the baby pictures is a message of hope and compassion about the future. It reads:
"I am my mother’s son. And I am our son’s mother. Together we bring you Archewell. We believe in the best of humanity. Because we have seen the best of humanity. We have experienced compassion and kindness, From our mothers and strangers alike. In the face of fear, struggle and pain, It can be easy to lose sight of this. Together, we can choose courage, healing, and connection. Together, we can choose to put compassion in action. We invite you to join us. As we work to build a better world, One act of compassion at a time."
According to the new site the foundation aims to "unleash the power of compassion to drive systematic cultural change." The site explains that the name Archewell comes from the Greek word 'arche' meaning 'a source of action' and the word 'well' meaning 'a plentiful source or supply'. The organisation includes the foundation along with Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
Earlier this week the couple released the first episode of their Archewell Audio podcast. In the 33-minute episode the pair discussed what they learned from 2020 and their hopes for the new year ahead. They were joined by celebrity friends including mental health advocate Matt Haig, tennis player Naomi Osaka and George the Poet - who used the opportunity to share gratitude to the frontline workers during the pandemic. But it was little Archie who stole the show for many listeners.
