  • Megan Thee Stallion opened up about her budding friendship with Beyoncé in a new cover story with Variety.

  • "She treated me like family, and now I feel like I am family," Stallion said.

  • The two collaborated on Stallion's "Savage (Remix)," and Beyoncé sent her fellow artist flowers after she suffered gunshot wounds.

Megan Thee Stallion is not only one of the brightest rising stars in hip-hop, she's also, enviably, one of Beyoncé's new friends. The 25-year-old rapper first met the superstar during a New Year's Eve party hosted by Bey and Jay-Z, and the connection between the two Houston natives was instant.

"In the first five minutes of the conversation, I felt like I've been knowing her all my life," Megan said in her cover story with Variety. "She treated me like family, and now I feel like I am family. We talk all the time."

Meg even shared photo booth images from that party, not only with Bey but also with her famous daughter Blue Ivy Carter. What a way to ring in the New Year.

As fans of both Meg and Bey know, the artists didn't stop crossing paths there. Months later, Beyoncé hopped on a remix of the rapper's hit "Savage," which was widely celebrated by listeners. The duo also donated revenue from the single to COVID-19 relief.

Stallion later gushed over the collaboration on Instagram Live, recalling how her late mother was a big fan of the "Drunk in Love" singer as well. "It's really crazy 'cause, like, my mama was a really huge fan of Beyoncé, and she used to make me watch a lot of Beyoncé's stuff," she said.

Beyoncé also recently showed her support for Stallion after the rapper suffered gunshot wounds in her feet, causing her to undergo surgery. According to a photo shared by Stallion, Beyoncé sent a bouquet of flowers and a note reading, "Queen, sending you all my love. God bless, Beyoncé."
