Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $875 Million and Powerball Rises to $687 Million Ahead of Drawings
No Mega Millions tickets have matched all six numbers drawn since December, while no Powerball tickets have matched all six numbers drawn since January
The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have hit massive payouts.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Mega Million has risen to an estimated $875 million, which has a cash value of $413.5 million, while the Powerball has increased to $687 million, with an estimated cash value of $327.3 million.
News of the jackpot increases comes ahead of Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing after no ticket “matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 13, 25, 50, 51 and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 6,” the lottery said via a news release.
“It’s just the sixth time in the game’s nearly 22-year history that the jackpot has reached this level; only five jackpots exceeding $1 billion have been higher,” the Mega Millions jackpot continued.

Despite no one matching all six numbers, Friday night still saw some lucky winners, with the drawing producing 1,587,100 winning tickets, the lottery shared. A ticket sold in New York matched five white balls, enabling a $1 million second-tier win. Additionally, 39 tickets also matched four white balls, as well as the Mega Ball for a third-tier win.
“Nine of those are worth $50,000 each because they included the optional Megaplier (available in most states with an extra $1 purchase), which was 5X Friday night,” the lottery shared. “The other 30 third-tier winning tickets take home the standard $10,000 each.”
There have been 28 rollings of the Mega Millions jackpot since Dec. 8. which saw the top prize being won via two tickets purchased in California.
The increase in the Powerball jackpot comes ahead of Wednesday’s drawing after “no ticket matched all six numbers drawn," the Multi-State Lottery Association said in a release posted online.
Despite no one winning the top prize, Monday's results saw over 872,000 tickets win cash prizes, with fix tickets matching “all five white balls to win $1 million prizes.”
“The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in Maryland, Minnesota, Texas (2) and Virginia,” the association said. “There was also a ticket in Florida that matched all five white balls and increased the $1 million prize to $2 million by including Power Play®, the prize multiplier feature, for an additional $1 per play.”
The jackpot, meanwhile, was last won on Jan. 1, with the winning ticket purchased in Michigan worth $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 33 drawings without a Powerball jackpot winner.
