Meet the woman who cares for more than 500 stray dogs at her home in northern India

A remarkable woman from the Indian state of Punjab cares for more than 500 stray dogs at her home. Pooja funds the project at her house in the town of Ludhiana entirely herself and pays with her own money for the food and medicines her growing pack needs. She rescued many of the strays after they were hit by cars and required medical treatment. Local authorities recognise her expertise and call Pooja whenever there's a canine emergency. Some have taken to calling her "Dog-mother", a nickname she accepts readily, although she also lives with her human son.
