Ratnabai Ramchandra may be 70 years old but that doesn't stop her from heading off every day to her garage where she repairs cars, bicycles and other vehicles. Ramchandra from the Sangli district of Maharashtra is the family's main bread-winner and uses the money she earns to care for her disabled son and husband. She learned her trade by watching her husband do the same work until poor health forced him to retire. Many locals are inspired by her determination and show their support by always bringing their vehicles to Ramchandra for puncture repairs and other minor work. Ramchandra says she earns between 300 and 350 rupees a day which is less than five US dollars.
