For Jessie Carrier and Mara Miller—the husband-wife duo behind New York–based firm Carrier and Company—a rug is a far cry from an afterthought. In fact, it’s a key ingredient to any well-appointed space.

“When designing a space, a rug is one of the first pieces we select,” Carrier shared in a statement. “It is a central component of the canvas that sets the tone for the entire space.”

This year, the design duo took their love of rugs a step further by partnering with Loloi Rugs to create their own collection, which debuted at Las Vegas Market in August 2021 as well as High Point Market last month. For both parties, the collaboration was a no-brainer. Not only are Loloi and Carrier and Company family-owned businesses (Carrier and Miller are partners in both life and design), but they both also bring a thoughtful approach to all their design endeavors.

For its debut collection, Carrier and Company x Loloi draws on the couple’s signature use of color, scale, pattern, and texture. “Our work spans the spectrum of design, from traditional to modern, tailored to bohemian,” the couple said. “We drew upon this dichotomy to create this new collection of rugs with Loloi.”

The collaboration features three hand-knotted rug collections consisting of 18 styles that will complement formal and casual spaces alike. With a rich basket weave and varying mix of high and low pile, the Harrison Collection offers a unique take on Swedish modernity. The Bond Collection uses an organic pattern, vegetable-inspired palette, as well as a mix of wool and linen to create a rug that’s simultaneously soft and statement making. Eye-catching maximalists will find a lot to love about the Milton Collection, a graphic plaid that uses saturated pops of color as well as a mix of jute, wool, and cotton fibers.

Each collection is available in a handful of colorways and sizes—ranging from two feet by three feet to 11.6 feet by 15 feet—offering the perfect standout piece for any room of the house.
