The MCU Is Getting Ready To Enter 'The Age of Mutants'
Marvel fans, it sounds like our patience will soon be rewarded. After nearly two decades of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being a world-changing wrecking ball to the film industry and our lives, the X-Men we’ve long wanted to see join the party are coming. At least, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sure thinks so.
As noted by Deadline, Feige spoke virtually at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, where he made comments indicating that the X-Men’s full inclusion in the MCU arriving sooner than we may think. In the past year, we’ve had Beast appear in the post-credits scene of The Marvels as he tended to an injured Monica Rambeau, Deadpool & Wolverine was littered with characters from X-Men’s past, and X-Men ‘97 became the best thing Marvel has done in years. The trend will continue until it’s time for the X-Men to fully appear in the MCU.
“I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men.”
The next two Marvel films slated to come out in Phase Five are Captain America: Brave New World, set for February 14, 2025, and Thunderbolts*,coming May 2, 2025. In the D23 trailer of Captain America, President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) unveils adamantium as a new element discovered in the gigantic body of the Celestial Tiamut, which was left in the Indian Ocean after the being was killed in The Eternals. This could be a perfect way to introduce the numerous X-Men characters who used adamantium, such as Lady Deathstrike and Sabertooth, into the MCU.
Ever since Disney purchased 21st Century Fox’s TV and film properties in March 2019, we’ve all been eagerly waiting for our favorite mutants to return home. Finally, those wishes are coming true.
