BATU GAJAH, March 22 (Bernama) -- The Batu Gajah police district headquarters (IPD) has decided to limit public access of the Batu Gajah Public Market to only 30 customers at one time to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Batu Gajah district police chief ACP Ahmad Adnan Basri said the initiative, which begins today until March 31 from 7 am to 11 am, will be manned by 13 police personnel from the Batu Gajah IPD and an enforcement team from the Batu Gajah District Council.
He said observations showed that the minimum limit was fully understood and complied with by the public.
“Customers were also seen to take preventive measures as suggested by the Ministry of Health by wearing masks and practising social distancing while in the area,” he said when contacted here today.
Meanwhile, Ipoh district police chief A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said his men had been patrolling supermarkets around the state capital to ensure customers were also practising social distancing.
