Maya Jama is rocking a brand new look, and her fans are loving it.

The Don't Hate the Playaz and Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer star surprised her social media followers this week by ditching her usual raven-coloured hair for a blonde makeover.

This new look was an immediate hit for Maya's friends and Instagram followers, with The Voice UK's AJ Odudu among those describing the fresh look as "fire".

Maya also drew raves from models Danielle Peazer and Munroe Bergdorf, Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, her co-host Peter Crouch's wife Abbey Clancy and popstar Pixie Lott.

The 26-year-old radio and telly presenter recently made headlines for defending a dress she'd worn on the BBC for lockdown series Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer.

When one social media user complained her frock's milkmaid-style neckline was "inappropriate" for the BBC series, Jama put them firmly in their place.

"Appreciate your concern I am able and allowed to dress how I please. If you feel uncomfortable by my boobs sitting in my dress that's on you sis," she wrote back.

"We're all fighting for equality and similar treatment to our male counterparts. Dont let the side down by hyper sexualising my bod."

Jama announced some huge career changes earlier this year as well, when she left the BBC Radio 1 weekend show she'd hosted since 2018.

"As you know I have been juggling and there are a lot of exciting commitments happening that would mean I'm not able to dedicate the time needed to my weekly radio show," she explained to her listeners.

"I've loved every moment of my time at Radio 1 and I would like to thank the team for their hard work and friendship during the last two years. It's been a JOURNEY."
