[Updated 12/22/2020 3:02 PM]: If you've been obsessing over Ariana Grande's engagement ring for the past few days, you aren't alone. Luckily, we finally have more deets on the sparkler so you can jot them down in your secret wedding note on your phone.
Entertainment News spoke to jeweler Jack Solow, who helped design the ring. According to Solow, Ariana's fiancé, "Dalton was involved in every step of the selection process" and he was "very, very specific about what he wanted." Apparently, it was Dalton's idea to put the oval diamond on an angle, as well as to include the pearl in the design. "He said to me we had to incorporate a pearl into the finished piece because it is very sentimentally special, the element of a pearl is very, very sentimentally special to Ariana," Solow said.
Unfortunately, Solow doesn't know if the pearl used in the ring is the same one from Ariana's grandfather's tie pin like fans suspect. A pearl is also Ari's birthstone, so that could be another reason for its inclusion.
But Dalton's vision didn't stop there. "All of the elements and the details are his contribution," Solow said. "It's a pun to say no stone unturned but he was very intent that everything be perfect. He paid a lot of attention to detail, a lot of wanting to make this very special for Ari. That was his goal."
Solow even talked to Dalton recently and apparently the couple is "pleased" with the finished result. "I had a nice chat with Dalton yesterday," he said. "He was grateful and she's thrilled and he's thrilled and rightfully, they should be. He did a great job and it's a beautiful ring."
Original post: By now, you've probably heard the news that Ariana Grande is officially engaged to real estate agent Dalton Gomez. That means you've also probably seen the rock that Ari has been showing off on her hand. Yes, it's gorgeous and totally unique, but there actually seems to be a special meaning behind the ring that takes this love story to a whole new level.
As a reminder, the ring features an oval diamond partnered with a pearl. Shannon Delaney-Ron, Director of Communications at JamesAllen.com estimated the diamond is around 5-6 carrots and probably costs between $200-300k. As for the pearl, fans think they've figured out the meaning behind it, which of course would make this ring priceless.
Ariana Grande is very close with her grandparents. Ariana's maternal grandma, Marjorie Grande (Ari calls her Nonna), can often be seen by Ariana's side. At the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, Marjorie joined Ari onstage for her performance of "God is a Woman." Marjorie's husband, Frank, whom Ari was also very close to, passed in 2014 of cancer. Not long after his death, Ariana posted a photo of a pearl ring on Twitter.
"Nonna had a ring made for me w/ the pearl from grandpa's tie pin," the singer wrote. "She says he told her in a dream it'd protect me. <3"

Of course, now fans are thinking that the pearl in Ari's engagement ring is Frank's pearl, which would be absolutely beautiful.

Ariana hasn't confirmed if it is, in fact, her grandfather's pearl, but come on, a pearl on an engagement ring is so unique, there's no way it doesn't connect back to Frank.
