Mauricio Pochettino: Chelsea appointment confirmed by multiple sources with full staff revealed
Chelsea are all set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next head coach, various respected sources have confirmed.
Pochettino has long been identified as the frontrunner to take over at Chelsea ahead of next season. Now, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a ‘full agreement’ has been reached between the two parties.
The former Tottenham manager has ‘accepted all conditions’ of Chelsea’s long-term contract offer. Pochettino is expected to put pen to paper soon.
Romano has used his customary ‘here we go’ expression to confirm that Pochettino will be the next Chelsea head coach.
The Athletic and the Daily Telegraph are also reporting that Pochettino has reached an agreement with Chelsea and will be due in London in the coming days to sign his commitments.
In turn, he will take the reins from Frank Lampard, who has struggled to implement any kind of consistency since returning as interim manager. However, Lampard will remain in charge for Chelsea’s final three matches of the season.

Before he takes over, Pochettino will hold talks with Lampard and Chelsea’s sporting directors, per The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
As revealed by Ornstein, Pochettino’s backroom team at Chelsea will consist of Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Sebastiano Pochettino, Tony Jimenez and club coaches.
Chelsea hoping for stability under Pochettino after chaotic season
Chelsea have sacked two managers this season; Thomas Tuchel lost his job in September and his replacement Graham Potter was dismissed in April.
Ahead of next season, it will be important for Chelsea to find more stability, especially after their high spending in each of the past two transfer windows. Now, it is clear that Pochettino will be at the helm of their rebuild.
Chelsea will not have European football on offer next season after their dismal Premier League season. After Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, they are 11th in the table.
Hence, Pochettino will only have domestic competitions to focus on next season. After previously impressing with Southampton and Tottenham, he will be hoping for success in his third Premier League job.
Since leaving Tottenham in 2019, he has endured a spell in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, but that only lasted from January 2021 to July 2022. After a year out of work, Pochettino is now ready to get back on the touchline with Chelsea.
