Matthew Ko returns as Shaw Brothers' artiste

28 Sep – After leaving TVB back in 2014, Matthew Ko recently revealed that he is now signed with Shaw Brothers.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor and first ever winner of Mr. Hong Kong shared the good news with the media at the opening event of a fitness centre recently, saying that he was back in Hong Kong earlier to visit his relatives and somehow had a meeting with TVB Executive Virginia Lok.

"She then took me to meet Catherine Tsang, who influenced me to return to my career in Hong Kong," he said.

Matthew said that he has now signed a five-year contract with Shaw Brothers, and plans to make more TVB dramas in the future.

"This time, I have more freedom and can return to work in the mainland whenever I want," he added.

Matthew stated now that he is in his late 30s, he would like to get more opportunities to improve his career.

When mentioned he previously left TVB due to lack of opportunities to play the lead, Matthew responded, "I used to be a blank canvas. I didn't know how to deal with a lot of things before I went out. There are many things that are right and wrong. After leaving, I have to fight for many things by myself and cherish many opportunities."
