Matthew Ho: Rebecca Zhu is just my onscreen partner
23 Apr – Although he used to tease fans about a possible romance between him and Rebecca Zhu, Matthew Ho seems to be singing a different tune nowadays when asked about the real score between them.
In an interview with Mingpao recently, the TVB actor hesitated when the topic of Rebecca came up, eventually telling the interviewer, "We are only onscreen partners. And those who know are clear about this. We know what we are."
He added that he has no thoughts when it comes to his love life at the moment, especially in the past year following the outbreak of COVID-19. Instead, said Matthew, he will focus more on his work.
"I was really immature when I first fell in love. But it made me realise that it has nothing to do with you when people leave you. The experience of failure made me realise that it is much better to talk about relationship and marriage after achieving success in your career," he said.
Matthew added that he really believes that a man should have success and a sense of security before going around talking about marriage, and that he would rather not be the kind who would cause much difficulties to the woman he loves.
On the other hand, rumours are rife that Rebecca will not be renewing her contract with TVB when it officially expires sometime this year, and will instead focus on her career in mainland China.
