- Award-winning chef and "MasterChef Australia" host Jock Zonfrillo has died suddenly, aged 46. The Scotsman worked in renowned restaurants around the world before opening his own in Australia. His death was confirmed by broadcaster Network 10 on the day the 2023 season premiere of "MasterChef" was set to air.

Yesterday was the first ever "Debt Gala," not to be confused with today's Met Gala, also held in New York City. The Debt Gala is an event focused on fundraising for medical debt relief. Instead of designer haute couture, attendees walked the red carpet in outfits made from trash.

The Albanese government is set to increase JobSeeker. The $50 daily rate will rise at first only for people over 55 as ministers target cost of living relief at women in the long-term unemployed. Australian workers are set to retire with thousands more in their superannuation accounts after changes to how the money is paid. From July 1, 2026, employees will need to pay super at the same time as wages and salary. The changes will leave the average 25-year-old earner about 1.5% better off in retirement as more frequent payments leave more time for compounding interest.
