The Masked Singer US spoilers follow.
The Masked Singer US just finished airing its fourth season, with country icon LeAnn Rimes being unmasked and crowned as the 2020 winner.
We already know that the show is set to return to Fox for a fifth season in 2021 and now executive producer Craig Plestis has teased that there will be some "unbelievable surprises" next time around.
"There's going to be some new elements added in to season 5 that I can't tell you yet," he told Entertainment Weekly.
"I want to tell you one, because it's so exciting, but I can't yet because we're just defining it a little bit more. For casting, just so you know, there's going to be a couple of unbelievable surprises that we've never done before. Unbelievable.
"[In season 4], we had some incredible singers. The profiles of these singers were better than any season before and that bar is high, and we're trying to surpass that bar for season 5 as well."
Meanwhile, following her win on Wednesday (December 16), Rimes said that she was "so glad" she took the plunge and joined the series.
"I never thought I would do anything like this and I don't think I'll ever do anything like it again," she told Variety.
"It's such a unique show. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I'm so glad I did."
The Masked Singer US airs on Fox. The Masked Singer UK season 2 will premiere on December 26 at 7pm on ITV.
