Marvel Studios Announces ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Animated Series

At an event last night promoting the upcoming season of its What If…? series, Marvel revealed it has another animated show in the works that’s a spin on classic IP: Eyes of Wakanda.

The reveal was part of a surprise sizzle real presented by Marvel Studios head of streaming, television and animation Brad Winderbaum. Here’s the short logline: “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”

One can imagine the possibilities, especially for the Dora Milaje, the elite group of warriors who serve as the all-female special forces of Wakanda who, in the films, are led by Danai Gurira’s Okoye.

Previously announced animated offerings X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year) were also part of the lineup featured.

Attendees at the event reportedly saw two episodes from What If…? Season 2:

Episode 1: “What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?”

Logline: In a world where Ronan deposes Thanos long before the events of “Infinity War,” Nebula is recruited to join the Nova Corps. Desperate to escape her father’s shadow, she sets out to prove her detective chops.

Episode 3: “What If Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?”

Logline: When Justin Hammer lays siege to Avengers Tower during the annual holiday party, there’s only one person left on site to stop him—Happy Hogan. But in setting out to prove his hero chops, Iron Man’s errand boy may end up transforming himself in more ways than one.

Winderbaum offered a few more details on S2 of the show in a video clip posted online. See below.
