4 Oct – Director Matt Reeves is still in the midst of rounding up his "The Batman" cast. At the moment, he is looking for an actress to fill in the role of Catwoman.

Three Marvel stars are among the actresses shortlisted to play the part, according to Geeks Worldwide, who revealed five names in total.

First up (arranged in no particular order) is Tessa Thompson, best known as Valkyrie from the MCU movies, "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Avengers: Endgame", and who will be reprising the role in "Thor: Love and Thunder".

Secondly, there's Lupita Nyong'o, who made her Marvel debut as Nakia in "Black Panther". The third Marvel star is Alexandra Shipp, who has portrayed Ororo Munroe a.k.a. Storm three times, twice in a starring role, for "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Dark Phoenix", and once for an uncredited cameo in "Deadpool 2".

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Logan Browning round up the shortlist. Mbatha-Raw has steadily been picking up more big screen roles, starring in movies like "The Cloverfield Paradox" and "A Wrinkle in Time".

Browning is best known for starring as Samantha White in the Netflix series, "Dear White People". Since her character, White, is portrayed by Tessa Thompson in the movie version, Thompson makes guest appearances as Rikki Carter instead in the TV series.

Graphic artist The Imaginative Hobbyist shares on social media a concept art
of Logan Browning as Catwoman.

Browning recently thanked graphic artist The Imaginative Hobbyist on social media for his concept art of her as Catwoman, donning a suit much like the one worn by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992's "Batman Returns".

Pfeiffer was the second actress to play Catwoman on the big screen, the first being Lee Meriweather in 1966's "Batman". Halle Berry infamously (fans weren't really feeling her costume) portrayed the character in 2004's "Catwoman", while Anne Hathaway last played it, in 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises".

Any one of the shortlisted actresses who will finally be picked by Reeves to star in the 2021 "The Batman" will join confirmed cast members Robert Pattinson, who is starring as the titular superhero, and Jeffery Wright, who will be playing Commissioner Jim Gordon. Jonah Hill is still in talks to play either The Penguin or The Riddler.
