Martha Stewart’s “SNL” Impersonator Ana Gasteyer Shares 'Transformative' Experience Reading Her Cookbook
"First day of reading Martha’s new cookbook," the TV star said unsuspiciously at the beginning of her video
Ana Gasteyer takes her love for Martha Stewart seriously.
The actress and comedian, 57, who has impersonated the lifestyle mogul, 83, numerous times on Saturday Night Live, shared her "transformative" experience reading her new cookbook in a recent Instagram video.
"First day of reading Martha’s new cookbook," Gasteyer unsuspiciously said at the beginning of her video while casually sitting on a yellow couch.
But as the clip continued, the actress slowly morphed into the celebrity chef.
"Two days of reading Martha’s book," she said after a brief cut, still appearing as herself in a light blue pajama set with her signature brown locks.
The next update began showing her physical transformation into Stewart.
"Three days after reading Martha’s book," Gasteyer expressed in a deeper voice while wearing a blonde wig and a fashionable outfit.
At the "four days" mark, the comedian – still rocking the blonde hair — swapped her outfit for a cozy beige sweater, and then at "five days," she threw on a puffer vest in reference to Stewart’s signature look and added a few new mannerisms.

On Nov. 12, Gasteyer — also known for her impersonations of Hillary Clinton and Celine Dion on the sketch show — surprised Stewart during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Upon the SNL alum’s entrance, the cookbook author told her, "You look better than I look, darling! My impersonator, I fear for her."
Host Drew Barrymore proceeded to quiz the two as part of her Final Five segment, in which she asks her guests questions about their personal lives.
During the segment, Stewart was asked about her worst dating experience and she answered, "Oh, I have had so many bad dates. I can't even enumerate, I mean, I went out to dinner with one guy and this was when I was doing those dating apps. I was forced to do those for a gig."
She then asked, "And have you done that, Ana Gasteyer?"
In a full commitment to her impersonation, Gasteyer replied, "No, I'm Martha. I don't know what you're talking about."

The lifestyle expert’s new cookbook, Martha: The Cookbook, was released last week and marks her 100th book.
Talking about it in a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Stewart said, "Cookbooks should reflect what the cookbook writer likes, and it should be personal… You have to be true to yourself."
The cookbook features recipes and "invaluable tips" about preparing dishes "from timeless classics to contemporary delights," according to a synopsis.
"Nothing in the book is too modern or too vegan," she told WSJ. "It’s pure Martha kind of cooking."
