If you spent most of lockdown marathon-watching the Australian version of Married at First Sight (guilty), you're going to be thrilled to hear about the revamp the UK version is getting in 2021.
Channel 4 has announced the series ~which will be moving to E4~ is getting a major makeover, and will be taking inspiration from the Australian version. Currently, a team of experts and matchmakers pair up two complete strangers who meet for the very first time on their wedding day.
While that will still be the case, future series won't see the couples legally tie the knot. Rather than legal marriages, the couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a fancy ceremony which is overseen by a wedding celebrant. Everything else - from the guests to the bridal gowns - will still be the same.
Once the ceremony is over, the couple will enjoy a luxury honeymoon before returning to the UK where they'll move into a shared house with each other and all the other couples. Fans will get a glimpse at their relationships at the weekly dinner parties, where they'll also be put under the microscope by fellow brides and grooms - and of course by the experts.
The series finale will end with a “glossy, high-stakes” vow renewal, with the couples deciding if they want to recommit to their partner or go their separate ways.
Sound good? Bring on 2021.
