Mark Ronson and Grace Gummer's Marriage: All About Their Relationship
Ronson recently shared a sweet moment with Gummer's famous mother Meryl Streep at the 2024 Grammys
Mark Ronson and Grace Gummer have a lot of love for each other.
The record producer and actress first sparked engagement rumors in May 2021 before secretly tying the knot that year. They became first-time parents when they welcomed their daughter in 2023.
Not only did Ronson, 48, gain a life partner when he married Gummer, 37, but he also became the son-in-law of award-winning actress Meryl Streep, who is Gummer’s mother.
The “I’m Just Ken” songwriter and Streep shared a sweet moment together at the 2024 Grammys as they presented record of the year to Miley Cyrus on stage. Gummer joined her mother and sister Mamie at a table in the audience to support Ronson, who was up for various awards for his work on the Barbie soundtrack.
In a February 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Ronson opened up about how important Gummer and their daughter are to him, calling his family his "anchor."
"The most important thing is being around for her, so I've never had that — I mean, obviously with my wife too, I love her; I never want to be apart from her for more than a day if I don't have to be," he said. "I have to be away sometimes to go write music and do whatever I have to do. But it's like once you have the child too, it really truly does just become everything that is now the most important thing."
Ahead, here’s everything to know about Ronson and Gummer’s sweet romance.
They confirmed their engagement in May 2021
In May 2021, the couple sparked engaged when Gummer was seen sporting a large diamond on her left ring finger. Days after Gummer was photographed with her impressive jewelry, Ronson confirmed he was engaged.
The Grammy winner revealed to Tame Impala's Kevin Parker on The FADER Uncovered podcast that he had popped the question the weekend before, sharing that he and Gummer had their first kiss while listening to Tame Impala's album InnerSpeaker.
"There's a plaque for that somewhere. There's a first kiss, very corny Hallmark first kiss plaque," he said. "But no, it was forever, it will be etched. It's still my record."
They tied the knot in August 2021
As Ronson celebrated his 46th birthday in September 2021, he made the surprise announcement that he and Gummer were married. Alongside a photo of them at their wedding, he wrote, "To my truest love...out of nowhere, you made 45 hands down the greatest year of my life. And I'm sure it took me 45 years to become the man worthy of your love.”
"I hope I spend every one of these birthdays by your side til my last day. And beyond. Forever and ever yours ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (and yes, we got married)," he added.
Although their celebration was intended to be a larger affair, the couple scaled back their New York wedding in August 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Page Six.
They’re parents
In October 2022, Gummer revealed that she and Ronson were expecting their first child at W Magazine's 50th anniversary party in New York City, where her baby bump was on display.
The couple later welcomed a baby girl, with Ronson’s sister, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, being the one to confirm her arrival. "[Gummer] just had the baby. She's two and a half months now," Dexter-Jones told PEOPLE in March 2023. "She's stunning."
While talking to PEOPLE in February 2024, Ronson said that their daughter was born while he was working on the Barbie soundtrack.
“Her first time in a recording studio was when we were doing the final mix on ‘I’m Just Ken,’ and I was walking her back and forth, listening at a much more reasonable volume than I usually would be," he said.
They’ve supported each other at many events
Over the course of their relationship, Gummer and Ronson have supported each other at various public events. In June 2023, Gummer walked the pink carpet with Ronson as they attended the premiere of Barbie, for which Ronson produced the soundtrack.
They’ve also stepped out alongside Gummer’s famous family on several occasions, including the Academy Museum Gala in December 2023 where Streep was being honored and the Albie Awards in September 2022 where they posed with Streep on the red carpet.
Mark Ronson says Grace Gummer made him believe in “Hallmark nonsense" love
Ronson has posted many sweet tributes to Gummer, gushing about his love for the actress. In one Instagram post from August 2022 for their anniversary, Ronson noted how Gummer made him believe in gushy Hallmark love.
“When people used to tell me their spouse was their best friend, i thought they were spouting hallmark nonsense or that they were some freak anomaly of love,” he captioned a photo of him and Gummer. “So now i guess i'm either someone who spouts hallmark nonsense or i'm a freak anomaly of love. Or maybe i just married the most incredible human being around. Happy Anniversary to my darlingest, you've made me happy beyond my wildest ❤️🎂❤️🎂 “
Mark Ronson thanked Grace Gummer during his Critics Choice Awards speech
While accepting a Critics Choice Award for his Barbie song “I’m Just Ken,” Ronson gave a sweet tribute to his wife and daughter during his speech. “To my wife and my daughter, Ruthie and Grace, you are my world and my everything, so thank you so much,” Ronson said on stage.
Mark Ronson shares a sweet bond with Grace Gummer’s famous mother Meryl Streep
Ronson seems to be quite chummy with Gummer’s famous mother. In addition to walking red carpets together, the two showed off their sweet bond as they presented together at the 2024 Grammys.
"I'm really, really honored to be here tonight with you, Mark, to present the most important award of the night, the best album of the year," Streep said on stage before Ronson hilariously corrected her to reveal they were announcing record of the year.
As both Ronson and Streep were up for Golden Globes at the 2024 ceremony, the producer briefly talked about his mother-in-law during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Gushing about her incredible singing voice on Only Murders in the Building, Ronson added, “She can do everything.”
