Mark Duplass Says Jeremy Irons Is 'Really Goofy in Between Takes' on “The Morning Show” Season 4 Set (Exclusive)
The actor shares with PEOPLE how working with Irons on the Apple TV+ drama was "incredible"
Jeremy Irons may be widely recognized for his sometimes intense, dramatic performances, but behind the scenes, the actor isn't shy about showing off his lighter side.
During an interview with Mark Duplass for PEOPLE in 10 in promotion for his new series, The Creep Tapes, which is the third installment of the Creep franchise, the actor shared his experiences working with Irons, who appears in the upcoming fourth season of The Morning Show.
“I just had a scene with Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons,” Duplass, 47, said. “Sitting across from Jeremy Irons and having him look at you with the f------ Claus von Bulow [from Reversal of Fortune] set of eyes… And then he’s just like really goofy in-between takes and sweet and … God. Incredible.”
Irons, 76, will play Martin Levy, the father of Alex (Jennifer Aniston), in the Apple TV+ drama, which captures the behind-the-scenes intensity and dynamics of a fictional morning news program.
In addition to Duplass, Irons and Aniston, the show also stars Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman, Nestor Carbonell, Jon Hamm and Greta Lee. The Morning Show has so far earned four Emmys, including two outstanding supporting actor in a drama series awards for Crudup.
In the season 3 finale, Alex effectively stopped an acquisition of UBA by Paul Marks’ (Hamm) Hyperion by presenting a merger between UBA and NBN.
It was a group effort, kicked off when Kate (Natalie Morales), Bradley (Witherspoon), Stella (Lee) and Chip (Duplass) worked together to learn what Paul was hiding and put a stop to the sale. Bradley and her brother Hal also eventually turned themselves into the FBI for their actions around the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S Capitol riots.
While Apple TV+ hasn’t released much information about season 4, it’s likely the show will pick up soon after the events of the finale, exploring the merger between UBA and NBN. Also, given her role in the merger, Alex could have a more powerful position inside the new media company.
