The Substance — which took home the best screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in May and also stars Demi Moore — premiered on Sept. 5 at the Toronto International Film Festival and arrives in theaters on Sept. 20. The film follows the story of Moore's character, Elisabeth Sparkle, who takes a black market drug to create a younger version of herself.

Before the movie hits theaters, Qualley joined her husband at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Long Island's UBS Arena. At the ceremony, the couple sat next to their friend Swift, who was nominated alongside Antonoff thanks to their work on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Swift took home multiple awards at the VMAs, including the trophy for video of the year for the track “Fortnight” with Post Malone.
