Man's 'Father's Day Instincts' Kick in as He Saves Fawn Stuck in Pool

A husband’s protective instincts kicked in as he rescued a distressed baby deer floundering in a gated pool in Kansas City, Missouri, on Father’s Day, June 19.

Alisa Anderson, who recorded this footage, was driving with her husband, Johnney, to celebrate Father’s Day at her aunt’s home in Kansas City. Along the way, Johnney caught a glimpse of a tiny head popping out of a nearby pool, Alisa told Storyful

Concerned, they parked their truck and ran over to the pool and saw the fawn struggling to stay afloat. They then realized the gate was locked. There was only one option for Johnney—to jump the fence. The man then rushed over and grabbed the scared baby animal from the water.

Johnney handed the fawn through the gate to Alisa, who placed it in a wooded area nearby for it to “find its momma next to the pool.”

Alisa posted the video with the caption, “When the Father’s Day instincts kick in! #HeroOfTheDay.” She told Storyful it was “like second nature” for the duo to step in. Credit: Alisa Anderson via Storyful
