A woman was sexually assaulted by a man as she walked near Bethnal Green police station.

The victim was assaulted by a man who had been following her as she headed along Victoria Park Square towards Bethnal Green Underground Station.

Officers at Bethnal Green police station were alerted but the man had already left the area after the assault on 22 January.

Police have now issued an image of a man they want to identify. No arrests have been made and police are making a public appeal to trace the man in the CCTV.

A Met statement said: “A number of enquiries have been carried out following the incident including looking at CCTV and speaking with witnesses, however officers are yet to identify the suspect.

“Police are now releasing an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“The suspect is described as Black, approximately 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
