Man Utd told bargain midfield signing is on this summer as agent delivers Ten Hag perfect opportunity
Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer’s agent says the club have got “Marcel from Leipzig again” as he hinted about the possibility of a summer move.
United’s move for Sabitzer was one that came quickly. Indeed, reports linking the midfielder with United emerged on deadline day and by the close of the window he was a United player.
The need for another option in the midfield was clear after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for months.
The Dane has been one of United’s most influential assets this season. Indeed, despite having already missed four games he’s still made the fourth-most appearances for an outfielder.
What’s more, he’s also third on the list for most Premier League assists this season, behind Kevin De Bruyne and Bukayo Saka.
While United do have Fred and McTominay to call upon, that they don’t offer as much going forwards as Eriksen is fairly clear. As such, Sabitzer seemed a good option to fill the void left by Eriksen.
Indeed, his worst tally of goals and assists in a Bundesliga season at RB Leipzig was nine.
While that slowed at Bayern – only four goal contributions in 54 games – that offered another reason why a move to Old Trafford seemed a good option.
United have got the old Sabitzer
Sabitzer’s agent has revealed he thinks the midfielder is back to the level he showed at Leipzig following his loan move.
“At Manchester United we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him,” he told Sport1.
While the midfielder is yet to have an impact in terms of goals or assists, he’s been on the winning side in all but one of his four appearances. His agent feels that the style of play in England suits Sabitzer.
“He loves this English hardness! It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him,” he added.
“He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there.”
Summer move hinted
Given Sabitzer’s agent feels he is impressing in England, a permanent move could well arise, something he has clearly not ruled out.
“We’ll see when the time comes,” he said.
Whether or not United are keen on snaring him permanently remains to be seen. Eriksen will be back fit for next season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Erik ten Hag was plotting more moves.
However, a fee of €15million (approx £13.2million) was mentioned for Sabitzer in the report. That would be a bargain for United, allowing them to go big in other areas – the striker position seemingly a must.
