Man Utd player ‘tells friends he wants to quit’ and Red Devils are willing to pay £60m for Chelsea man
Scott McTominay has reportedly ‘told his friends’ that he ‘wants to quit’ Man Utd this summer as he thinks a transfer will be ‘good for his career’.
The Scotland international has been an important player for Man Utd in recent years but he has slipped down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
The 26-year-old has made 37 appearances across all competitions but he has been limited to just ten starts in the Premier League.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen joined Man Utd last summer and they have been preferred in midfield when both players have been fit.
McTominay is under contract until 2025 but he is expected to be sold this summer. Football Insider are reporting that he has now ‘told friends that he wants to quit Man Utd’.
The midfielder ‘wants regular playing time while at the peak of his career and he is ‘fearful that the club are planning to sign another central midfielder this summer’.
It was claimed earlier this week that Man Utd are interested in Declan Rice and Mason Mount this summer.
A ‘Man Utd source’ has told The Sun that Man Utd are “not prepared to pay silly money” for Mount and they are only willing to “go to £60m”.
“The club are keen to make Mason Mount a Manchester United player,” they told The Sun.
“They think he can come straight into the first team and make a positive difference to them. But they are not prepared to pay silly money and they have set the bar for what they will go to, to £60m.

“Mason is attracted to the idea of being able to link up with so many of his England colleagues like Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire. He has made it clear to his advisers that United is now the club he wants to go to and is pushing for the deal to happen.
“But Mason’s arrival would leave McTominay further down the pecking order and he’s at a stage of his career now where he wants to be playing every week.
“There are no shortage of clubs interested and although United are not necessarily keen to sell him, he is likely to try and push for a move to take the next step in his career.
“Newcastle and West Ham are at the front of the queue but Brighton could also be looking to bring in a midfielder and think they could use European football to tempt some bigger names this summer.”
