Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has been linked with elite clubs in the Premier League recently – but now he has a big suitor abroad, according to reports.
Caicedo arrived in English football during February 2021, when Brighton bought him from Independiente del Valle. At the time, clubs like Manchester United were already making notes about his potential.
After spending some of last season on loan in Belgium with Beerschot, Caicedo has returned to the Brighton fold this season. In the process, he has been earning a growing list of admirers.
Manchester United remain contenders for his signature further down the line. There have also been suggestions of interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
There is a feeling that Caicedo’s market value is growing. Indeed, Brighton might be holding out for up to £85million if they are to cash in on the 21-year-old.
But when that time comes, his destination might not be elsewhere in the Premier League. After all, Defensa Central has become the latest Spanish outlet to name Caicedo as a target for Real Madrid.
The La Liga champions have been hard at work evolving their midfield in recent months. Casemiro departed for Manchester United in the summer, when they also signed Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.
One year earlier, they signed another top talent from France, Eduardo Camavinga, with an eye to the future. Iconic players such as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are approaching the latter stages of their careers.
As the evolution continues, Caicedo is now someone Los Blancos reportedly have their eyes on.
Their scouts are discovering good things about the Ecuador international. Likewise, they are also casting glances at Newcastle’s Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes.
Moises Caicedo might earn Real Madrid chance with patience
Since both are relatively new to their respective teams, they might not be on their ways out any time soon. But in the future, they both seemingly have the potential to take the next step in their careers with a bigger club.
Real Madrid have been a dominant force in Europe throughout history, so will remain attentive to some of the world’s most promising players in order for things to remain that way.
Caicedo has started all 12 of Brighton’s Premier League matches so far in the 2022-23 season. From his perspective, maintaining that regular gametime should be important at this stage of his development.
But attracting a club like Real Madrid shows just how high his ceiling could be. It might be a dream move to consider in later years.
His contract at the Amex Stadium is still due to run until 2025.
