Man Utd ‘informed’ PSG are ‘ready to sanction’ Neymar exit as ‘genuine’ interest emerges
Man Utd and other Premier League clubs have been informed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar could be available this summer, according to reports.
The Red Devils allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to terminate his contract at Old Trafford at the end of November with Wout Weghorst arriving in January to cover the loss of the Portugal international.
And Man Utd will be looking to add more attacking options to their squad in the summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag looks to take some of the goalscoring burden away from Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has scored 24 goals in all competitions with their second top goalscorer, Bruno Fernandes, on seven goals for the campaign.
Neymar, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, has now emerged as one possibility with his future at Paris Saint-Germain uncertain.
PSG sports adviser Luis Campos is reportedly looking to break up the famous MNM trio at the spearhead of the French club’s attack with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi forming a scary strikeforce.
The report in RMC Sport earlier this week insisted that Mbappe ‘will always be at the centre of the project’ but that PSG’s stance on Messi and Neymar was less clear.
However, transfer expert Graeme Bailey claims that 31-year-old Neymar could now move to the Premier League with multiple clubs being told about his availability this summer.
“Neymar is on course to leave Paris Saint Germain this summer. And he could very well be turning up in the Premier League,” Bailey told TEAMtalk in an exclusive.
“Whilst officially PSG are not saying much, and he is contracted to them until 2025, sources are confirming that they are ready to sanction his exit.
“And it is true that Neymar’s possible availability has been spread around Europe. All of the Premier League’s top clubs are being informed. That includes Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle. They have all been informed of his possible availability.
“One of the main reasons for Neymar’s position being put forward by intermediaries was their belief that they needed to confirm that a move to England was very much something he is keen to do.
“Premier League clubs have always held an interest in Neymar, but he has never shown a huge appetite to play in England, and I am told that is a concern, and they [Premier League clubs] will not be used in any way to generate interest.
“However, I understand the interest in Neymar and the Premier League is believed to be genuine this time – and that comes from both sides.”
