Manchester United are gradually getting more confident about raiding Barcelona for Ansu Fati and may end up benefitting from a ‘perfect storm’ at the Nou Camp, according to a report.

Big things were expected of Fati when he broke into the Barcelona first team in the 2019-20 campaign. The left winger was only a teenager at the time but looked like he could have a huge impact for the Spanish giants over the coming years.

Fati enjoyed a solid start to the following season, only for injury to end his campaign early. He scored on his La Liga comeback last term. But knee, hamstring and other fitness issues meant he only made 15 appearances across all competitions.

The Spain international is finally back to full fitness this season. However, it looks like his time at Barca is up and he may push for a transfer once the summer window opens.

Xavi is not giving Fati enough minutes due to having other wingers at his disposal. They include Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele. And the fact Barca need a big sale this summer to balance their books prompts Spanish newspaper Sport to claim the ‘perfect storm’ is emerging for Fati’s exit (via Sport Witness).

Recently, there has been speculation Fati could leave Spain altogether and move to the Premier League. Man Utd have been tipped to sign both Raphinha and Fati in a major double deal that would threaten to derail Xavi’s project in Catalonia.

Arsenal and Tottenham are keeping tabs on Fati’s situation and could make bids for him this summer, too.

Sport’s latest information mainly focuses on Man Utd. The Red Devils are clearly gaining confidence about landing the 20-year-old. They are now being backed to put big money on the table to reach an agreement with Barca.

However, the report fails to go as far as revealing how much Man Utd’s opening bid could be worth.

Fati can help the potential transfer progress by telling Barca chiefs about his desire to leave. This would have been unthinkable in previous seasons, given the fact he came through their academy and has great love for the club.

However, after so many injuries and now a lack of playing time, Fati needs a fresh start. And Man Utd can offer him exactly that.

Plus, Old Trafford has become a far more attractive destination in recent months. Erik ten Hag is turning the stadium into a fortress again and Man Utd have a real shot at winning their first trophy since 2017.

Fati appears to have been impressed by Man Utd’s improvement under the Dutchman. And he now wants a piece of the action.

While the forward’s progress has been halted by injuries, he is still an exciting young player with massive potential. If Man Utd can keep him fit and play him regularly, he could end up becoming one of the best left wingers in the Premier League.

The only trouble is finding where he actually fits into Ten Hag’s team. After all, Marcus Rashford currently plays on the left flank, and he is enjoying an incredible season.

Alejandro Garnacho is available to Ten Hag as well, and he is developing nicely.

Nevertheless, Man Utd could get the ball rolling for Fati’s arrival by offloading a current attacker first.
