Man served with indictment over death of Marion Hodge who disappeared in Scotland in 1984
Police have served a 78-year-old man with an indictment in connection with the death of a woman who has not been seen since 1984.
Marion Hodge, who was 34 years old at the time of her disappearance in Scotland, was legally declared dead in 1992.
The body of the mother-of-two has never been found.
Police Scotland issued a fresh appeal last year and said detectives from the Unresolved Homicide Investigation Team were investigating Ms Hodge's "murder".
An indictment specifies charges which an accused faces.
Ms Hodge lived in Balgray, Lockerbie, and worked in the Dumfries and Galloway town's Clydesdale Bank.
It is understood she was dropped off in the Whitesands area of Dumfries at around 7.30am on Friday 6 July 1984.
She was reported missing three days later, and since then there have been no further sightings or contact.

Announcing that a 78-year-old man had been served with an indictment in connection with her death on Friday, Detective Inspector Angela Barr said: "A number of people have contacted police to provide information following our re-appeal from February 2022.
"I would like to thank them for their assistance, along with all those who have helped with the investigation so far."
