Man Missing After Falling into Reservoir, Authorities Say They’re Doing ‘Everything They Can’ to Find Him

A personal trainer remains missing days after falling into a reservoir while paddleboarding in England.
The missing man, who has been identified as Simon Daniels, fell into the water at Dovestone Reservoir in Oldham on Sunday, Oct. 20, according to the Greater Manchester Police.
“Emergency services are currently responding to reports of two people going into water at Dovestones Reservoir,” police said in an initial statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) later that day. “Attempts are ongoing to locate the second person.”
After being rescued, the woman underwent medical treatment, according to police. Although authorities have not yet confirmed her identity, she is believed to be Daniels’ partner, according to ITV News.
In their latest update, police — who have continually shared updates about the ongoing search — said that emergency services “are working in difficult conditions” to try and locate Daniels.
Police added that the teams "are doing everything they can."
When reached for additional comment by PEOPLE on Tuesday, Oct. 22, police said they did not have any new information to share.

Daniels is a personal trainer and sports massage therapist from Cheshire, according to his Instagram page.

Friends and colleagues of Daniels have posted tributes to him amid the search on social media.
“Your ability to make each and every person that came into your life feel so special is a superpower like no other," Chloe Atherton wrote on Facebook. "I’m half expecting a message to pop up with a time and place to meet you and it feels like my heart could shatter.”
In a separate message shared on their business page, Knutsford Cleaning Services wrote: "Come on Simon Daniels PT I really hope they find you very soon pal. I was only talking to you Friday night, sending thoughts to your family and friends. Here if anybody needs anything."
