Police shot and wounded a man they said was trying to stab them outside a deli in the East Village Thursday morning, June 4, according to local reports.
Officers encountered the man near Third Avenue and East 10th Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan around 6:45 a.m. Thursday. Sources told the Daily News that the man tried to stab officers, who shot him when he did not respond to commands to drop the knife.
The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to local media reports. Two cops were taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village and treated for ringing in their ears. Credit: Christine Champagne via Storyful
