Heavy rain brought on by the remnants of Hurricane Ida caused intense flooding in parts of northern Maryland on September 1.
This footage uploaded to Instagram shows a man kayaking through the deep floodwaters in Elkton, Maryland, the following day on September 2.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), as of the early hours of Thursday, flooding was still ongoing in northern parts of the state.
The NWS also confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in northern Maryland on Wednesday, one in Annapolis and another in Baltimore, flattening trees and destroying several structures. Credit: @robmassimiano via Storyful
