Khalil Soussa, of Medford, Mass., purchased a $15,000,000 Money Maker lottery ticket, but it had been “collecting dust” for months
Thanks to his housekeeper, Khalil Soussa is cleaning up!
The Massachusetts man purchased a $15,000,000 Money Maker lottery ticket, but it had been long forgotten in his home and “collecting dust” for months, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.
It wasn’t until Soussa’s housekeeper found the ticket in a vase that the man realized he had won $1 million on the instant ticket game, lottery officials said.
The lucky winner, who lives in Medford, chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes, and said he plans to help a friend in need and will also donate some of the money to charity, per the release.
Tony’s Convenience in Medford — where Soussa made his lottery purchase — will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket, according to lottery officials.

Earlier this year, a scratch-off lottery winner in North Carolina also hit the jackpot — similarly against all odds.
Pharris Frank, a 41-year-old construction worker, won $2 million on a $20 scratch-off ticket, according to North Carolina lottery officials, nearly two years after he took home $1 million on a $25 scratch-off ticket.
"It's crazy because the day before I won, my buddy was asking me how it felt to win $1 million," he told N.C. Education Lottery. "And I told him that I was going to double it."
