Man City eye sensational summer move for £70m-rated World Cup winner linked to Liverpool
Manchester City are the latest side to register an interest in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to reports.
The Argentina international is on the radar of several top European clubs at the moment, so there may well be a bidding war for his services this summer.
However, Brighton are keen to keep hold of Mac Allister for as long as possible, so it could require a sizeable transfer fee for City to get a deal over the line.
The Seagulls are absolutely flying at the moment under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table – seven points adrift from Champions League qualification, with three games in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham.
Mac Allister has been one of Brighton’s star performers this season, too, making 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and making one assist.
Most recently, he put in an excellent performance against West Ham United, scoring a penalty and helping his team to an emphatic 4-0 victory at the Amex Stadium.
The 24-year-old also played a key role in helping Argentina to win the World Cup last year, featuring in all but one of their matches, so there is no doubting his quality.

Man City ramp up interest in Mac Allister
Now, according to Football Insider, Manchester City are pushing to sign the midfielder in the summer, as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Along with the Cityzens, Arsenal and Manchester United are also thought to be keeping a close eye on Mac Allister.
However, as previously reported by TEAMtalk, Liverpool also hold a genuine interest in signing Mac Allister, although their primary transfer target is still Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
It is believed that Brighton want a minimum of £70m for the Argentinian, so we could potentially see a bidding war for him in the summer.
A versatile player, Mac Allister has the ability to play as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder, with the energy to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
With that in mind, he could cover a number of positions for Man City next season, so it would be a smart move from Guardiola to bring him in.
Indeed, the Premier League champions are set to lose Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the current campaign, so they definitely need to bring in a quality central midfielder.
It will prove to be difficult to replace Gundogan, as he has been one of City’s most important players in recent years, but Mac Allister certainly possesses the quality to do so.
