If at first you don’t succeed, try again — that’s the mentality behind one Ukrainian strongman who finally succeeded at breaking a world record.

Dmytro Hrunskyi, 35, broke the Guinness World Record of heaviest vehicle pulled by the beard by pulling in a vehicle weighing 5,687 lbs. (2,580 kg), according to the record-keeping brand.

He had previously tried to set the world record for the feat in 2019 but failed after his beard hairs were pulled out while trying to perform the task, the Guinness World Records said.

Hrunskyi told the brand that in the past three and a half years since his previous attempt, he “grew his beard longer” and “experimented” with different ways to braid his beard to make it “as strong and rope-like as possible.”

This time, Hrunskyi’s beard stayed strong and “intact” as he pulled a 2.58-tonne minibus. He broke the previous record set by Lithuania’s Antanas Kontrimas, who pulled a vehicle weighing 4,303 lbs. (1,952 kg) with his beard a decade ago.

However, Hrunskyi didn’t stop there, as he also went on to set a Guinness World Record for heaviest vehicle pulled by the neck at 17,107 lbs. (7,760 kg), becoming the first person to do so. In the video, he could be seen exerting his strength and pulling the vehicle forward 5 meters as a rope was placed around his neck.

The feat was a twin to his previous record for heaviest train pulled by the neck. He set that record in 2022 by pulling a train weighing 71,650 lbs. (32,500 kg).

He also broke his own record for most cars pulled with his teeth, now set at seven. Each of the cars had a driver inside too, Guinness World Record said. The previous record had been six cars, set by Hrunskyi in 2022.

Hrunskyi told Guinness World Records that he intends to keep training to break his own records and make new ones. He said, “My hobby is extreme power tricks, and my goal is to be a multiple record holder.”

He also noted that the new records have an additional meaning behind them. “I dedicate this record to my country, Ukraine, which has been fighting for more than a year and does not give up,” he said.
