Mamat Khalid is elated that his movie "18 Puasa di Kampong Pisang" is a hit

19 Apr – Three days into its release on Astro First, it was revealed that Mamat Khalid's latest movie, "18 Puasa di Kampong Pisang" has successfully raised more than a million ringgit at the box office.

The filmmaker, who spoke about the film's success despite having only been released via the said platform, stated that he was thankful for the support from fans and viewers alike.

"I hope that this movie will not just entertain, but also teaches a lesson and reminds us of the repercussions of our bad behaviour," he said.

On the other hand, Vice President, Malay Nusantara Business and Head of Astro Shaw Raja Jastina Raja Arshad stated that a lot of people were excited about the film's release.

"Most viewers and film critics gave positive responses about the film. We hope that the success will be a good start for this film to receive support from the public," she said.

The movie, which combined Mamat's two popular franchises, "16 Puasa" and "Kampong Pisang", stars Bell Ngasri, Aziz M. Osman, and Joey among others, and revolves around Bell's character Barkoba, who - upon getting hit on the head with a durian while secretly eating in the day during Ramadan - finds himself facing the devil as it takes him back in time to see all of his misdeeds.

The movie also features several guest appearances, including celebrity preacher Datuk Kazim Elias.
