Malaysian company unveils first unisex condom

A Malaysian company is launching what they say is the world's first unisex condom.

The condoms are made of the same material as transparent wound dressing, thin and flexible protection.

It is reversible and can be worn regardless of sex. /it can be inserted in the vagina or over the penis.

The creator of the "Wondaleaf Unisex Condom" is John Tang Ing Ching:

"It is basically a regular condom with an adhesive covering. So it is a condom with an adhesive covering that attached the condom to the vagina or penis as well as a covering the adjacent area for extra protection. The condom portion which doesn't have adhesive can be flipped inside or out."

Tang says the condoms can be put on early without slipping off, making it a safer contraceptive.

He came up with the idea of the condom after being troubled by the high rate of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

He also wanted to provide an alternative contraception, due to the side effects and high cost of the hormonal birth control for women.

The condoms officially go on sale in December.
