Malaysian actors Chew Kin Wah and Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar nominated for Indonesia's Piala Maya

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 - Malaysian actors Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar and Chew Kin Wah have been nominated for Indonesian awards Piala Maya.

On Wednesday, Piala Maya revealed its 2023 nominees for each category on social media.

Ahmad Tarmimi was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Perjalanan Pertama and Chew earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance in Cek Toko Sebelah 2.

Chew previously won Best Supporting Actor at the 2017 Piala Maya for the same role in Cek Toko Sebelah.

Cek Toko Sebelah 2 is an Indonesian comedy film where Chew playing Koh Afuk, a widower father who runs a family-owned store.

Perjalanan Pertama is a drama starring Ahmad as an elderly ring crafter who takes his grandchild on a journey to rekindle his passion for painting.

Chew is known for his supporting roles in critically acclaimed Malaysian films One Two Jaga and Prebet Sapu.

Meanwhile, Ahmad has had a 50-year-long acting career with roles in classic local films like Abang, Mekanik and Pemburu.

Piala Maya began in 2012, started by Indonesian film lovers on Twitter to honour each year’s best local productions with nominations and awards.

The 2023 Piala Maya will be held this December in Jakarta.
