Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases dip to 5,911, Selangor still tops the list with 2,111 new infections

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — Malaysia recorded 5,911 of new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Ministry of Health today.

Selangor still tops the list for state with the highest number of new infections at 2,111 followed by Negri Sembilan (770), Sarawak, (569), Johor (498) and Kuala Lumpur (483).

Only Perlis recorded no new infections while Putrajaya only recorded three new cases.

Public health officials also recorded a slightly lower number of deaths compared to yesterday at 72 fatalities today. The cumulative number of people who have died of the disease in Malaysia stands at 4,348 to date.

Currently there are 886 Covid-19 patients being treated in the intensive care unit, 441 of whom require breathing aid.

However, there are also 5,911 patients who have recovered in the last 24 hours, making the cumulative recovery cases at 691,115.

The current active cases of Covid-19 being treated are 64,523 people.

Health officials recorded 24 new clusters today. That means a total of 824 active Covid-19 clusters nationwide right now.
